At St. Mary's Parish and in many other Catholic churches, baptism takes place within the liturgy. The Church is a community of believers and baptism is the way we are brought into that community. Parish members with children of their own help prepare new parents for baptism. The baptism ministers will arrange to visit you in your home or will invite you to come to the parish to share some information about the meaning and symbols of baptism. They will also answer any questions you might have about how we celebrate baptism at our parish. During preparation, Baptism ministers will give families a keepsake book of baptism and go through the Rite of Baptism, preparing them for baptism and the day of celebration.
For more information or to schedule a baptism please contact Julie Fitzgerald one to two months before the birth of your child.
